Remuneration
We understand that you should be rewarded for your work and that your salary should also reflect the economic climate. In our current collective agreement we offer a very competitive salary with yearly increases and yearly level increases based on your annual performance.

Annual Leave
We believe in the importance of taking time out from work to spend time with family, go on holidays and rejuvenate. We believe you work better because of it. To support you in this we offer you 4 weeks annual leave each year, office shutdown between Christmas and new years, and also provide options to purchase up to 8 weeks additional leave each year. We also offer long service leave to those who have been with the APS for 10 years.

Personal Leave
We understand that personal leave should cover not only personal illness or injury but also short term caring of family members, personal emergencies, supporting your family or even moving house. We support all our people through personal leave options to support you at these times.

Paid Maternity Leave
We respect the importance of taking time out of work for maternity and adoption leave. We offer you 14 weeks (28 weeks at half pay) paid maternity or adoption leave. We also have considered the importance of the supporting partner and offer up to 2 weeks (4 weeks at half pay) supporting partner leave.

Flexible Working Arrangements
At DEEWR, we understand that everyone’s situations are different. That’s why we offer flexible working arrangements that can be negotiated with your manager. This includes part-time employment, flexible hours of work, and working from home.

Flextime
We know that everyday at work is different and your hours may vary depending on your work demands. We offer all APS Employees (and equivalent) flextime to take account of the need to balance the achievement of organisational outcomes and your personal commitments.

Learning and Development
We are committed to the principle of lifelong learning and recognise the importance of supporting the development of our employees to achieve their personal goals as well as the department’s vision. We encourage our people to take responsibility for their ongoing development in consultation with their manager, who will provide guidance and reasonable support.
We offer development programs for entry-level employees, leadership, professional skills training, executive development and business area training. We also provide access to online learning and development courses for you to undertake at your own pace. If you want to extend your academic learning we also provide support by providing time off, and monetary assistance.
