Hi, I am Michael Director of IT security working out of Brindabella Park at the moment. I was born in Ballarat and hold a bachelor of arts, a graduate diploma in applied psychology, a diploma in project management and I'm a certified information systems security professional.

As a graduate I saw great opportunity for on the job training and supervision leading to a real professional qualification. The salary was attractive but the prospect of stable employment with an employer who wanted to develop my skills pinched the deal. I mostly enjoy the relationship and cooperative working environment in my team, my branch and my group. I enjoy a sense of achievement that comes from connecting with people around the department and recognition of my contributions.

The department has dynamic people and programs that demand my full attention. For me working in the Public Service is a genuine form of service to my community. With DEEWR, I feel like I am working in a good cause.

As a team leader I spend much of my time talking to team members to partners and to customers. I go to meetings within my team, within the branch, with people from other groups and more and more with people from other agencies and interests. I also spend a fair bit of my time on research. As a corporate support worker I work indirectly on most of DEEWR’s programs. The largest, most complex and most rewarding program for me has certainly been the universal employment services. The tight integration between program and IT activities in this ongoing series of initiatives has given me the opportunity to do my best work.
